Fresh Fruit for Rotten Vegetables

I just watched a new DVD teaser for another surf movie; "Fresh Fruit for Rotten Vegetables". It doesn't seem like a movie where it has a storyline but more of just different segments and surfers. Some of the surfers seem really cool!(I saw a few of them riding on the nose.) Cant wait to see it =]

A New Angle!

Chase Jarvis's podcast shared a new way to shoot pictures. He used a 1" thick sheet of clear plexi and had people stand on it and shot them from underneath it. It is just an awesome way of shooting pictures. I would love to try it.

Last night I was asked to photograph the dance dress rehearsal at Cal State Northridge . My brother choreographed some of the pieces so it was fun to shoot. I haven't uploaded them on my computer yet so I haven't really seen how they came out yet; hopefully good =] Once I edit some I will put them up.

Just adopted a camera=D

Yesterday my friends dad lent me an amazing camera for as long as I need. He lent me a Nikon DH2 which is huge and really heavy. He has been photographer for a long time and has a lot of cameras so he was completely fine about me using this one. I am so excited because this is my first time having a DSLR in my possession =D Right now I am still reading the maunal and learning the basics about how to use this intense camera.

I miss Blink 182!

My friend posted a Blink 182 song link on Facebook and it made me remember the true fan i used to be!
When I was younger I was obsessed with them and their teenage based songs =] I always felt that all of their songs would relate to me when I became a teen.
They recently had a concert that i wish i went to! it would bring back some awesome memories =P

Second Hand Smoke for MACS?

Two Mac users were saying that their apple care warranties were voided due to constant smoke in the house. Apple was telling them that their Mac is malfunctioning because of the smoke. Man that sucks!

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Last night on HBO was The 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I didn't get to see the whole show because it went really late, but what I saw was amazing! I find it really cool that Crosby, Stills and Nash can still perform at their best same with Paul Simon. Hopefully HBO will replay i so i can tape it and watch the whole thing. A concert like this is really good to have because not all the performers will be around forever.

cutting Jobs at AOL? uhoh

The company at AOL is asking 2,500 workers to voluntarily "walk the plank" and leave the company. AOL is going to be going through a reconstruction which is why they need less employees to continue. They say that those who volunteer will get a larger severance package then those who later on get laid off.
*also, AOL is also going to be selling Mapquest to Microsoft.
Wow they are going through a lot of changes!

The Drifter

Rob Machado traveled to Indonesia in the summer of 2008 to experience a new kind of surf trip. He went alone to be with his own thoughts. The trailer for this movie looks very inspiring because Rob describes that what he went through on this trip and it really made him realize that he will never stop dreaming. I am dying to see this movie because it might help me inspire to not give up on what i really want to do.

People have gon Droid crazy!

Verizon just came out with a new phone that customers have gone crazy for! In its first week of being sold, over 250,00 phones were sold! This motorola phone is compared to the iPhone because it uses a touch screen and apps. I have seen a few commercials promoting the droid phone where it shows a man with an iPhone never getting any service. They say that Verizon has way more service and so the Droid wins over the iPhone.

Mr. Bieber makes an Appearence!

Justin Bieber (teenage girl heartthrob) performed a free concert at Universal Citywalk yesterday November 17th . Yesterday was also the day his new album "My World" debuted. I didnt get a chance to go but I heard from all of my friends that it was sooooooo packed to a point where you couldnt even move. Justin Bieber is a 15 year old cutie from Canada and was discovered by Usher on youtube! crazzy huh? He would always do Usher cover songs and that is how he was spotted.
There were screaming fans that were at Universal since 5am waiting for a 6pm performance. Stardom came to him very fast!

Canon vs. Nikon?

I am torn. I am looking for a DSLR camera but don't know which is better; Canon or Nikon.
Both companies were the first to switch from film to digital, making that crazy leap. It is kinda funny, when one company announces a new camera, the other company will come out with a new camera a few months later. I am going to keep researching but think eventually it will come down to preference and what I have used in the past.

The Billabong Pro Mundaka in Spain didn't have great luck this go round =[ There was no real swell when the contest went on but there was a beautiful massive swell a few days before. This contest is known to "cursed" or just have bad luck.

watch instantly service through netflix??

Netflix is doing a run next month where there is a cd you put in your PS3 to watch movies and shows instantly. This sounds awesome! I have never used Netflix but i know it usually takes awhile to pick your movies then wait for them to come in the mail so to have it instantly is pretty cool.

-But there is a catch, you are required to pay $8.99 a month to get this awesome package..... =[

IN the teaser I saw his mom does a narration about her son and he seems so in love with the sport. She says, "Clay is connected to the sensation of surfing; the visual experience of being in the wave"

The new scary movie for halloween is "Paranormal Activity" a big hit so far! It has brought in 8 million dollars more than the competitor "Saw".....wooh thats crazy.
It has been in theaters for about a month now and still brings in a good amount of money each week, even in this economy.

the reason for video recording on an ipod is???

so on September 16th the new nano came out and it was announced at the big apple conference. This isn't just a regular ipod nano though, it records video. Now I don't understand the point of this feature -- when is one going to need a video camera while they are listening to music?? but that's just my opinion :P

not crazy about these camera angles... =/

One of my favorite dance movies "Canterstage" has some not so great camera angles. In the big finale performance, the camera is on the dancers faces instead of a full body shot or their feet.
In dance especially, the picture should show the full dancer so we can see the moves they are putting all their effort into.
Having a full stage view of all the dancers adds something to the performance itself, in my opinion.

Motion controlled earbuds!

Sony created earbuds that know when you take them out of your ear! oh my gosh! Once you take them out of your ear they automatically stop the music and when you put them back in the music starts again.
This can also be used to start and end calls if they earbuds are connected to a phone....technology gets crazier every day!

Awesome camera angles!

Just a cool fact I should let you know, the camera angles on the surfing podcast I watch are pretty cool!
It seems that most of the angles are a view from the water probably with waterproof cameras.
I really noticed the cool angles when the surfers were in Capetown with a gnarly windstorm. The waves were nuts!
I hope to be able to shoot cool surfing pictures one day and use water angles too =P

"The Vampire Diaries" girls arrested????

Five of the actresses from this CW show were busted for flashing...they were caught for dangling over a Georgia overpass and flashing drivers.
Apparently they were shooting a scene for an upcoming episode, but passer by's were not warned, a driver saw them and called 911 to report the "flashers". The actresses were charged with disorderly conduct, luckily nothing worse. wow...that's crazy!

Surfer Jordy Smith is amazing!!!

Jordy Smith is a surfer from South Africa that was on the Red Bull Mentawais Surf trip.
He did a "rodeo clamp" a type of flip off the water, landing it perfectly! It was beautiful!
Jordy compares it to a bod boarding ARS(arial roll spin).

Renting movies on youtube??!!

Youtube is in the process of talking to big movie studios about renting movies out on Youtube!
It will most likely be close to the itunes version, renting movies for about $1.99 -$3.99 for a full 24 hour viewing period. How cool, now you dont even hve to leave our house when you want to rent a movie!
